History of the Bullfighting Museum of Cordoba

It originated in 1948, when the city of Cordoba took charge of an exhibition dedicated to the bullfighting world, mobilizing bullfighting lovers and getting the inhabitants of Cordoba interested in the exhibition.

A second exhibition dedicated to the bullfighter “Machaquito” was another step towards the imminent consecration of this museum.

Seeing that this type of exhibition attracted so much attention and aroused the curiosity of the people of Cordoba, the mayor of the city saw fit to offer a space dedicated to the world of bullfighting. The Cordoba City Hall bought the Casa de las Bulas in 1954, converting it into the “Museo Municipal de Artes Cordobesas y Artes” (Municipal Museum of Cordovan Arts and Crafts), with its strong point being flamenco, traditional goldsmithing and some relevant pieces in the world of bullfighting.

Already in the year 1983, it was decided to turn it into an exclusive museum of bullfighting art, closing for a major restoration in the year 2005 and reopening its doors to the public in the year 2014. Its incredible pieces and works, makes this Mudejar building of the sixteenth century a unique and exciting place for lovers of bullfighting.
